Sixteen Air Commandos from Hurlburt Field, FL are marching to honor fallen soldiers and to raise money for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. The non-profit group helps the families of Special Operation Commandos whose lives were lost in the line of duty. From February 12 till February 18, the march will take place while the airmen are loaded down with 40 pound ruck sacks. The journey will begin at Hurlburt Field and end in Tampa at the hold of the United States Special Operations Command. The Air Commandos will be divided into 4 teams of three and they will march in a 24-hour relay style format. During the 450 mile journey, ever 12 miles the teams will rotate. These airmen understand the challenges that they will have to face.

“This is just a little part of what we can do, just to feel some of the pain that they went through. I think it’s worth it; well worth the blisters, the hot spots and the aching back” said Sergeant Deon McGowan, organizer of the march. Donations raised at our Fort Walton Beach Toyota Dealer will go towards the Special Operations Warrior Foundation scholarship fund. This fund allows children of fallen Special Operations personnel to attend college and honors the memory of those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Created in 1980, Special Operations Warrior Foundation is devoted to providing a college education to every child who has lost a parent serving in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps during an operational or training mission under the U.S. Special Operations Command. This includes over 70,000 military special operations and support personnel assigned to units throughout the United States and around the world.
